Introducing 'BASTAT': A Sports Video Analysis and Sharing Platform

LITIV's flagship service, 'BASTAT'—a portmanteau of "Basketball" and "Statistics"—is an AI-powered platform that enables users to record, analyze, and share sports data.

In athletics, data is crucial. It plays a decisive role in improving performance by allowing players and teams to analyze weaknesses. However, traditional data analysis solutions have been costly and inaccessible, requiring specialized equipment and personnel. As a result, these tools have been available almost exclusively to professional athletes.

The BASTAT service changes this paradigm. Using only smartphone-recorded game footage, it allows anyone to easily log, analyze, and share their performance, democratizing access to sports data.

BASTAT's Competitive Edge

Effective sports data analysis hinges on the ability to accurately detect and track the ball and the players. LITIV has developed proprietary technology that can precisely identify the ball even when it appears very small in the frame. Furthermore, its system can accurately track individual players through frequent on-court congestion and overlaps—a common challenge in team ball sports. LITIV holds patents for these core technologies in both South Korea and the United States.

BASTAT is designed for ease of use and affordability. Users simply record their game with a smartphone or a consumer-grade action camera and upload the footage to the BASTAT app to access a wide range of video analysis features. The app automatically recommends key game moments, and users can also edit their own highlight reels.

The platform provides NBA-level box scores, tracking metrics like points, assists, rebounds, steals, and fouls. It also offers detailed statistical analysis for both individual players and the entire team.

LITIV's Achievements and Future

LITIV officially launched its service on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store in September 2023. In the latter half of the same year, the BASTAT service was successfully implemented in the Seoul National University IB League, receiving positive feedback.

The company is also preparing a service for indoor gymnasiums, installing IP cameras to offer amateur teams who rent the facilities an all-in-one solution for game recording, uploading, and automatic highlight generation. A partnership has already been established with a business division at KT for this initiative.

A proof-of-concept (POC) is currently underway at the Infinite Sports Center's Saha branch in Busan. LITIV has also signed an MOU with the Ho Chi Minh City Basketball Federation in Vietnam, establishing a foothold for expansion into Southeast Asia.

Looking ahead, LITIV plans to increase the number of partner gymnasiums in the domestic market, creating an environment where amateur basketball teams can easily share highlight clips of their games on social media. The company also aims to enhance the way stats are recorded for amateur and youth tournaments, linking official data directly with game footage for deeper analysis.
